How To Setup Your New Bitaxe

Unbox the Kaboomracks chassis and remove its contents.

Slide the two chassis legs into their designated slots on the back of the Kaboomracks chassis. Ensure they are fully inserted and snug against the chassis.

Connect the power supply to the barrel jack connector located on the right side of the Bitaxe. Upon connection, the Bitaxe will power on and display “connecting to my SSID,” indicating that the ESP32 chip is attempting to establish a Wi-Fi connection.

On your computer or smartphone with Wi-Fi enabled, locate and connect to the Wi-Fi network named “Bitaxe_XXXX.” Once connected, your device should automatically open the AxeOS GUI. If it does not, you may need to manually type in http://www.msftconnecttest.com/#/ to access it.

Navigate to the settings page within the firmware interface.

Input your Wi-Fi SSID, password, and pool information into the designated fields within the settings menu. Once completed, click the “RESET” button on your Bitaxe to apply the changes.

Your Bitaxe is now configured and ready to begin hashing. Best of luck, and thank you for supporting the Bitcoin network!

How to Flash a Xilinx Controller with Recovery Firmware for Antminer S19

What you’ll need:

  1. A 16GB or smaller MicroSD card (Note: 7007 and 7010 chips will not read larger cards).
  2. A computer with a MicroSD slot or a MicroSD to USB reader.
  3. Compatible firmware from Bitmain
  1. Download the specific firmware for your ASIC miner model. In this example, we are flashing an S19 Pro, not compatible with BeagleBone Controllers. BeagleBone firmware is typically labeled “BB.”
  2. Locate and open the downloaded RAR file containing the firmware
  3. Plug in your MicroSD card into your computer and open it.
  4. Drag and drop files from the firmware folder onto the MicroSD card. Note: Etching is not required for recovery files.
  5. Safely eject the MicroSD card from your computer.
  6. Unplug your miner, insert the MicroSD card, and plug the miner back in.

Initially, both status indicator lights should be on, then off. A successful flash is indicated by a solid green light; an unsuccessful flash shows a red indicator light. If unsuccessful, try reformatting the SD card and moving the files again or use a different SD card. Once the status light is solid green, unplug your miner, remove the SD card and plug it back in.

You have now successfully flashed your XILINX controller with recovery firmware. Be sure to re-enter your pools and update to the newest version via web update. This can be found on the firmware page under the “Firmware” tab. Use the “release” file first, then use the “merge-release” file second.

You will know the firmware has successfully updated by looking at the Firmware Version at the bottom of the screen

Antbox N5V2 Upgrade: NEC 2020 Safety & Compliance

Ensuring Safe and Compliant Bitcoin Mining

Bitcoin mining is more than just algorithms and profits; it’s also about keeping your operations safe and compliant. At Kaboomracks, we’re all about helping you meet the National Electrical Code (NEC) standards while optimizing your mining hardware. In this article, we’ll break down NEC compliance, introduce the Antbox N5V2 solution, explain the benefits, and guide you through an easy upgrade process for a secure and compliant mining future.

Understanding NEC Compliance

The National Electrical Code (NEC) is like a rulebook for electrical safety in the US. Updated yearly, it outlines guidelines to ensure safe electrical installations. But it’s not a one-size-fits-all deal. Different states adopt different versions at different times, making things a bit tricky. For example, Minnesota and Pennsylvania use NEC 2020 code, whereas Texas uses 2017 NEC code.

The Problem and Our Solution

Understanding NEC Compliance: NEC compliance is essential not just to avoid fines but also to protect your investments and ensure people’s safety. Let’s take a closer look at how the rules changed between the 2017 and 2020 NEC guidelines.

AntboxN5V2’s 2017 Design: The AntboxN5V2 was originally designed to meet the NEC 2017 regulations. But how can electricians or inspectors bring it up to 2020 standards? One key concern is the ARM switch on the Antbox, as mentioned in NEC code 240.67. This part needs to be updated with a different component. Additionally, the spacing between the breaker and the racks should be adjusted to meet the service entry rating.

Understanding the Code: Both Sections 240.67 and 240.87 now require the “arc energy reduction protection system” to undergo a performance test during installation, using either primary current injection testing or another approved method. However, the 2020 update introduced a new requirement for an instantaneous trip setting. It’s important to note that you can no longer temporarily adjust this setting to reduce arc flash potential.

What Does This Mean for You? In simpler terms, under the 2017 code, electricians could adjust breaker settings to reduce the risk of arc flash using the breaker’s built-in settings. But in the 2020 update, it’s clear that you must use an ARM switch or fuses for this purpose.

Benefits of Antbox N5V2

The Antbox N5V2 doesn’t just check the NEC 2017 box. With built-in disconnects, breakers, racks, PDUs, and switches, it’s not only safer but also easily adaptable for NEC 2020 standards. These internal features make maintenance and upgrades a breeze and boost overall safety.
